The dyer's safflower (Carthamus Tinctorius) was already known in ancient times, when it was widely used for dyeing. In the Middle Ages, it served as a substitute for the most expensive spice in the world. Currently, the plants are used in flower arrangements. Oil is pressed from the achenes, which can be used both in the food industry and in the dyeing and cosmetic industry.

Package contents:

  • Dried safflower petals 10 g (Carthamus tinctorius)
  • egg drying box

Instructions for decorating eggs:

  1. Use only egg whites. The kit dyes 4 to 5 eggs. Before dyeing, we recommend washing the eggs in a solution of baking soda (2 tablespoons of baking soda per 1 liter of water).
  2. Prepare paper towels, a glass container, baking soda and spoons.
  3. Empty the bag into a pot, add 4 to 5 glasses of water (800 to 1000 ml). Add the eggs (salt the water so it doesn't crack). Bring the water to a boil and add 1/3 teaspoon baking soda. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Carefully remove the eggs from the pot for even coloring. Strain the petals through a strainer into a glass container and carefully place the dyed eggs in the brine for 2 to 3 hours. For a more intense shade, leave the eggs in the dye solution overnight in the fridge.
  5. For a dotted pattern, soak the egg in water after cooking and roll in rice. Then wrap it with gauze or a thin cloth, tie it with a white thread and immerse it in the pickle for 2 to 3 hours.
  6. You can gently suck up the water with a napkin, but be careful not to rub off the paint! By peeling out the perforation on the back of the box, you get an egg dryer. You can add shine by rubbing a dry egg with vegetable oil.
